Environment and conservation

At Rising Sun we are committed to good environmental stewardship. We have various areas on the farm which benefit the environment including our legumous crop mixes, a flower and grass mix, which boasts natural flora and fauna providing a fantastic habitat for insects, birds and small mammals.

We also leave margins around the headlands of fields when we cut them for haylage as an environmental conservation area.

We've also recently built a new pond which creates habitat for a range of species including fish, ducks, geese, plants and algae.

Furthering our commitment to the Environment, we joined the Countryside Stewardship Scheme in 2020 (to 2025), following on from our Entry Level Scheme (2015-2020) and grow crops including wild flowers and herb rich swards to further encourage wildlife.
